Local Pubs in Wagga Wagga train together to complete Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG)

Several Wagga Wagga pubs have collaborated together to train staff.

Sureway Skills Training was the training provider and conducted a Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) course for staff of The William Farrar Hotel, The Victoria Hotel, Romano’s Hotel, The Palm and Pawn and The Farmers Hotel.

“RCG is essential for our workers so they can work in all areas of the pub” said Belinda King from Romano’s Hotel. “It is difficult for Hospitality workers to find time to complete their RCG so to have the opportunity to work with Sureway Skills Training who understood our challenges and were accommodating in finding a suitable time was exactly what we needed”.

“Wagga pubs have a good relationship with each other and when speaking we realised we all had the same need to ensure our staff are compliant” Ms King said. “Since the training, we have now been able to offer more shifts to those that completed the course”

The training was funded through Training Services NSW through the Smart and Skilled program.

With the recent lifting of COVID restrictions, more hospitality businesses are looking to employ staff to cope with the excess in patronage.

Sureway Skills Training Manager Justin Mobbs stated “This training was a great example of what Sureway Skills Training can do. We are flexible in how, when and what training we can deliver to suit the individual needs of businesses”.
